Three of our four properties are accredited with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). This means qualifying students can use their NSFAS allowance to cover accommodation costs directly.

HOW TO USE NSFAS FOR ACCOMMODATION

Apply for NSFAS funding at nsfas.org.za during the application window (August–November each year).

Receive your approval letter and confirm your accommodation allowance amount.

Apply for a Sovara room using the Apply Now button and select NSFAS as your payment method.

We handle the rest — Sovara works directly with NSFAS to process your accommodation payment.

What is included in the monthly rent?+
All our rooms include WiFi, water, electricity, laundry facilities, and a weekly cleaning service. You simply pay your rent — no hidden costs.
How much is the deposit?+
A deposit equal to one month's rent is required to secure your room. This is fully refundable at the end of your lease provided the room is left in good condition.
Are your properties NSFAS accredited?+
Yes — Sovara Jubilee, Sovara Eloff, and Sovara Genesis are all NSFAS accredited. Students with NSFAS funding can use their accommodation allowance to pay rent directly.
What is the minimum lease period?+
Our standard lease runs for the full academic year (January to November). Shorter leases may be available subject to availability — contact us to discuss your needs.
When do applications open?+
Applications for the following year open every October. We recommend applying as early as possible as rooms fill up quickly. You can apply online directly on this page.
Are pets allowed?+
Unfortunately pets are not permitted at any of our student accommodation properties.
Is there parking available?+
Parking availability varies by property. Please enquire about specific parking arrangements when you apply or contact us directly.
What documents do I need to apply?+
You will need your South African ID or passport, proof of student registration (or acceptance letter for new students), and parent/guardian contact details. NSFAS students also need their approval letter.
